Reflection

·      During the preparation and planning for this film introduction we incurred problems relating to characters. At the beginning of planning it was planned that there would be a rich man asking someone else to meet in the alley way and collect the “merchandise”. We then changed it so that the person sending the letter was unknown. Another problem that was faced during planning for the film was the concept of using drugs. This problem was then resolved by changing the wording in the letter as well in the alleyway scene to “package”.
·      My group effectively used the pre-production and planning templates that were on offer to help refine each of our ideas prior to filming. Storyboards were our fist pre-production and planning template that we first used. These help to show the rest of the group our image and picture of the film and create a better understanding of everyone’s thoughts and concepts. Shot lists were then used to create our film introduction image in more detail and to see the introduction playing in our head.
·      My group made effective use of our class time. Storyboards, shot lists and prop lists were all done as a group to make all ideas and thoughts discussed and approved by the group. This was effective in the filming stage as we all had a clear understanding as to what was to come next after shooting, making the tasker easier on all members. Although I think that our time could have been used a bit more effective by having set tasks for each member to get the process done faster and give the group more filming time.
·      As we incurred in shortage of time, my group spent an afternoon at school filming the finishing of our film introduction. This helped immensely as it left time for editing and our rough edit.
·      My group used storyboards, shot-lists and prop-lists to assist during the filming and decision making process. As discussed before, storyboards, shot-lists and props-lists were used during the planning and decision making process to create an visual, detailed image of the film introduction in each group members head. This helped to assist in the shooting in the film, as we all knew what came next and how it was being shot. Shot-lists helped especially through the film process as it kept each group member reminded on the image and concept of the film introduction. The shot-list was the last stage taken in the planning process, it was able to create a set graphical display in our minds as to what we all wanted our rough edit to show, which then made each members editing process easier.
·      During our filming we incurred minor problems, such as missing props. This was easily overcome by filming an area of the introduction that did not involve that particular prop. Another problem that was incurred during the filming process was finding an afternoon to film, through everyone’s busy schedule it was difficult to find a day were all group members could continue and finish filming. Though we overcame this problem by filming each shot with Maddy involved, as she was though on member that could not attend, then filming the rest in the afternoon.
·      All shots were completed in full detail to our shot-list. There were a small number of shots taken out due to lighting problems, such as shadowing. Though through the rough edit it is obvious that the film introduction did not lack anything from the shots being taken out.
·      My group is greatly satisfied with the final result of our film introduction. We create the images in our head to life, and we are all so proud of ourselves. Although we encountered minor problems the end result that we created was pleasing. Due to shortage of time we thought that the film introduction was not going to come to life, as we ran short on editing time.
·      The rough edit makes the time requirements for the task. I thought that due to the short timing on shots we would not be able to create the time requirements though due to the large amount of shots we were just able to. The film was neither incomplete or under time therefore the time limit was met smoothly.
·      My group’s scene does not require any reshoots or additional scenes. This is due to the amount of shots taken for each scene and shot during the filming process. Neither additional scenes are to be added also as we added shots into the film introduction during the process of filming as well.
·      I personally think that the only aspect that could be changed for the film is the acting of Sofia. Although the film is not mainly focused on the acting performance, I found that this would make the film easier to understand through visual emotions that Sofia could have created. Though many times during filming Sofia was helped to show the emotion that was needed, and this made great improvement for the film.
·      If the option to restart the film was given, I would personally change the character descriptions. I would have preferred a wealthy person asking an average person to get the package as a wealthy person would be able to get out of that situation much easier than an average person. This issue was raised during the planning process though the idea of money being the reason for kidnapping over ruled the character change.
·      The planning and filming process for the film introduction took much longer than expected. Due to many hours spent planning the filming process was rushed as for the editing also. As my whole group worked on each planning template together, we were one of the last groups to start filming which effected our time spent to film.

Planning

For my groups planning, we decided to do story boards and a shot list. A shot list was our best source of planning as we were able to tick off the shots as we went through them. Story boards help to visualize the film to everyone in the group, so that we all had an understanding as to what was happening in the scene and how it was being filmed.

Change to film

In our film we have decided to change the order of the shots. Our first shot sequence start with the office scene, move onto the alley way then the kidnapping. We have now changed our sequenced so that the alley way comes before the office scene. This is to build up the audiences curiosity into what is taking place in the alley and what is happening. The kidnapping scene is then added to become before the office scene. The introduction then finishes with the business women in a mysterious room to where the kidnapper has taken her.
